Create a character for my manga!
| Interested in creating your own character to be in my manga? Now's your chance. ^^ A little info~ My manga is titled "Children of the Blue Sky", and I'm not sure if this is the correct Japanese translation, but it would be "Kodomotachi no Aoi no Ten" ( 子供達の青いの天 ). I am planning on using the English title for now until I can find an accurate translation. ^^ The world of Children of the Blue Sky is based in a cross-world which combines both the use of magic and technology. Years ago, when I first started the idea for the manga, it had originally stemmed off of an online tactics/RPG style game called Tactics:Genesis (Gifts of the Oren), which my friend and I were developing. But now, there are only loose ties to the actual game which is still being developed. (Some of the following info I am pulling from an old journal entry.) About the world~  Not a lot is known about the world, other than to the viewer, one can see ancient remnants of a magical world as well as remnants of a technological world built on top of that. One characteristic that stands out are numerous stone pillars which have been given the name Oren. These often give off a faint blue glow from the large gems and intricate inscriptions encased on the surface. The style that resembles this world the best would be steam punk mixed with low fantasy. Characters are open to both the use of magic and mechanical devices, either, neither, or both. Each character, when entered into the story will have no memory of a previous life and sort of awakens to find themselves within this ancient ruin. They feel as if they are awakening from a dream. For those who are interested, I'll feature a character of your design in my manga. Your character should be between the age of 7-13. The appearance is up to you as well as any abilities this person may learn. The characters won't know any abilities to start with, but will eventually learn them on the way. You don't need to worry about the character's background, history, who they know, etc. Instead think of personality, their likes/dislikes (don't get too specific with those, because most modern things won't be in this world). You can also think of Final Fantasy Tactics or Dungeons in Dragons in concept of what type of "job" or "class" that person may be. Is your person a magic user? A builder? A hunter? Do they like animals? etc. Those type of things will help in determining what type of role they will play in the story. (This is an update from the last time I did this) Each character will be based on one of the animals from the Chinese Zodiac, and will also have an elemental affinity. To get started, you will need to know a little bit of what I'm looking for. ^^ :::Name::: The name should be made up, no using pre-existing names. I am also going for Japanese sounding names though they don't need to be actual Japanese names or even mean anything. You can use the following syllables to create a name. First name is fine, but if you want to create a last name, too, you can. I will probably only use the first name unless the two names are short. a i u e o ka ki ku ke ko ga gi gu ge go sa shi su se so za ji zu ze zo ta chi tsu te to da ji zu de do na ni nu ne no ha hi hu he ho ba bi bu be bo pa pi pu pe po ma mi mu me mo ra ri ru re ro ya yu yo kya kyu kyo gya gyu gyo sha shu sho ja ju jo cha chu cho nya nyu nyo hya hyu hyo bya byu byo pya pyu pyo mya myu myo rya ryu ryo :::Chinese Zodiac Animal::: Each character must have a Chinese Zodiac Animal, I will use this to determine what type of personality they are and who they get along with or who they don't get along with in the story. These are the ones you have to choose from: --Rat: The rat is said to be very honest, generous, and have a sense of fair play. You must guard against being too aggressive. --Ox: A natural born leader. You are conservative and methodical. Guard against being chauvinistic. --Tiger: You are sensitive, emotional, and capable of great love. Guard against being too stubborn. --Hare: You are considered a risk taker. Valuing security and tranquility. The Hare works well with people. --Dragon: Full of vitality and enthusiasm, the dragon is a popular individual. Guard against being bossy and loud. --Serpent(snake): Rich in wisdom and charm. You are romantic and deep thinking. Your intuition guides you strongly. --Horse: Your capacity for hard work is amazing. Intelligent and friendly, you have a strong guard against being egotistical. --Ram: Warmhearted and honest, you are also a talented artist, gifted naturalist, and seeker of freedom. --Monkey: You are very intelligent and very clever. Because of your extraordinary nature you are always well liked. --Bird(rooster): The bird is a hard worker, shrewd and definite in decision making. Guard against being extravagant. --Dog: You are generous and work well with others. The dog is a faithful and honest friend. Guard against a sharp tongue. --Boar(pig): You are a splendid companion, an intellectual who sets difficult goals and carries them out. You expect too much from others. :::Elemental Affinity::: The major elements: Water, Air, Fire, Earth --You can choose up to two of these. One element is dominant unless combining elements to form a minor element (see below). Combining Elements: Combining two elements will create a minor element. Choosing two elements from above would get you things like Metal, Ice, Lightning, etc. If you are unsure what to combine, just guess. ^^ All characters, regardless if they can use magic or not, must have an elemental affinity. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::: Character Template ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Name: Sex: Age: (between ages 7-13) --Appearance-- Eye color: Hair color: Hair length: Height: (most kids about age 10 are around 4'6) --Details-- Role (job/class): Zodiac animal: Elemental Affinity: --Personality-- Likes: Dislikes: Traits: --Notes-- (anything else of note I'll need to know about your character) Feel free to go as in depth as you want! ^^ ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: AN ADDED BONUS! For those who draw what your character looks like (needs to be full color and not just a sketch), will receive a free commission from me. I would like to see what you envision your character to be, show me the detail ^^ Not only will I give you a free commission, but I'll also feature your art on my website for Project Oren.
